Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as one of Guus Hiddink’s assistant coaches in the Netherlands set-up.

Hiddink took over as the manager of the Dutch national side from Louis van Gaal, who stepped down from his post after the World Cup to manage Manchester United.

The former Manchester United striker will be part of Hiddink’s coaching team, which includes Danny Blind, who also worked with Van Gaal and is set to take over from the former Chelsea manager in 2018 in a predetermined succession plan.

Van Nistelrooy earned 70 international caps and scored 35 times for the Dutch national team.

He also played for the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United and Real Madrid and won league titles in three different countries over the course of a glittering career.
