Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew believes that the Magpies will not win the race for Loic Remy, even though the striker's move to Liverpool collapsed.

Remy, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle from QPR, was all set to join Liverpool after the Reds activated a release clause in his contract.

However, Liverpool pulled out of the deal last weekend amid speculation Remy had failed a medical.

It was instantly suggested Newcastle would be back in for the 27-year-old after Pardew confirmed he was hopeful of a deal.

But no progress has been made and that is not something the Newcastle manager is expecting to change.

"We've not really had much contact with Loic and I don't see that evolving if I'm honest", Pardew told the BBC.

"Whatever happened at Liverpool is irrelevant really, because he's had plenty of chances to come to us.

"We've made it clear we'd want to have him but it hasn't really happened and therefore you sometimes have to say where is the line drawn.

"Maybe that one has gone away."
