Federico Viviani chose not to join Leeds United for personal reasons and will instead stay in Italy and close to his Rome home with Latina Calcio.

The highly-rated young midfielder had been poised to head to English Championship side Leeds on a season-long loan from Serie A giants Roma.

The move looked done and dusted, but then hit a hitch and the player's agent has suggested that was because his client wanted to remain in Italy.

Now Viviani will join Latina Calcio on loan, linking up with the club he was loaned to for the latter part of last term.

"After speaking with family members, the boy decided to stay in Italy", Giovanni Ferro told Calcio Mercato.

"He made a choice of the heart and will play for Latina for a year.

"The Nerazzurri will then decide at the end of the season whether to exercise a purchase option."

However, Ferro revealed that the agreement with Latina Calcio is not yet fully done and dusted, needing to be fully finalised with Roma.

"The deal, however, is not yet concluded.

"There is a lack of detail with regards the possible purchase option with the Giallorossi."
