Leeds United are closing in on the capture of Danish defender Frederik Sorensen from Juventus.

Massimo Cellino's men are in need of another centre-back following their sale of Tom Lees to Sheffield Wednesday and failed bid to sign Liam Cooper from Chesterfield as his replacement.

And Leeds' Italian owner is making good use of his contacts to solve the problem, moving ahead of Genoa and Hellas Verona in the race for Sorensen.

According to Sky Italia, the Yorkshire giants are one step away from securing Sorensen on a season-long loan deal, with the player ready to head to Elland Road.

Juventus snapped the Danish defender up from Lyngby in 2010, Sorensen spending two years in Turin before heading to Bologna on a co-ownership agreement.

The Bianconeri re-signed Sorensen permanently earlier this year and are now looking at providing him with further first team football to aid his development.

The 22-year-old has won five caps for Denmark at Under-21 level.
