Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has vowed to play on despite being a free agent and now 39 years old.

Del Piero had been at Australian club Sydney FC, but failed to agree a new contract with the side and is now on the lookout for a new team, with two offers on the table and under consideration.

The forward has returned to Australia to play for the A-League All Stars against his former club Juventus in a friendly on Saturday.

Asked whether the match could be his last, Del Piero was quoted as saying by FIFA: "No, I don't think so.

"It could be my last game in Australia, but I'm still in touch with the [Australian] federation and Sydney FC as well. I'm happy to be here and hope to stay in touch in the future."

And on the two offers on the table, Del Piero commented: "Now I have to choose exactly what is the best for me with the opportunities, but I want to play on.

"It's my passion. I understand I can follow my passion until I'm 90 years old, but I think I'm in good shape to play for one more year and this is my idea."

Del Piero though is at present only focusing on what he says will be a "special" match, when he locks horns with Juventus, for whom he clocked up 513 appearances over a 19-year period.

"This is a special game, not only for me but for the Australian federation, all the players.

"It will be, for sure, exciting to come face-to-face with my former team. I don't know what can happen, because it's a very unique situation."
