AS Roma are on the verge of offering a new and improved terms of contract to Ivory Coast international Gervinho.

The Ivorian joined Roma from Arsenal last summer and penned a four-year deal with the Italians.

He enjoyed a good first season with the Giallorossi, scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists for the club and helping his new side finish second in Serie A.

However, Gervinho became unhappy earlier this summer when Roma refused to grant him a pay increase he believed he deserved through his performances on the pitch.

But, the Giallorossi are ready to pour cold water over such exit talk by offering a new and improved terms of contract to Gervinho.

The new terms of contract will contain a salary of around €2.9m per season, instead of the €2.3 he is currently receiving, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former Arsenal man was believed to be ready to utilise the break clause in his current deal to leave Roma, but the new contract offer is expected to pacify the Ivorian for the time being.

Gervinho has earned 56 caps for Ivory Coast and has hit the back of the net 15 times in his international career.
