Michael Higdon has swapped Dutch side NEC Nijmegen for Sheffield United, penning a two-year contract with the Blades.

Sheffield United have paid an undisclosed fee to sign the 30-year-old striker, with his arrival delighting manager Nigel Clough.

"He ticks a lot of boxes, including goalscoring record, experience, as well as being a big lad who can hold the ball up", Clough told his club's site.

"He scores different types of goals, he uses his left, right and head and we think the crowd will take to Michael.

"He's 30-years-old, experienced and began at Crewe so is technically sound. Michael will be a major asset to us."
