Bologna have won the race for striker Daniele Cacia, who had been linked with Leeds United.

Cacia had been targeted by Leeds president Massimo Cellino in his attempts to bolster the Elland Road outfit by raiding the Italian market.

However, Bologna have won the race for the 30-year-old, officially confirming his signing earlier today.

"Bologna announces that it has signed the striker Daniele Cacia", the Italian side said via their official site.

The striker started his career in the youth ranks at Piacenza, heading out on a number of loans before joining Fiorentina in 2008 on a permanent basis.

Cacia turned out for Lecce before joining Hellas Verona in 2012.

The striker, who had just one year left on his contract with Verona, could only manage 13 appearances for the club in Serie A last season, failing to hit the back of the net.
