Lazio are interested in signing French defender Younes Kaboul from Tottenham Hotspur.

Kaboul, who joined Spurs from Portsmouth in 2010, has only one year left on his contract with the White Hart Lane club.

The French defender had an injury stricken last season and eventually made only 13 Premier League appearances for the north London side.

Lazio are keen to sign the 28-year-old this summer and are already laying down the groundwork to make a move for him, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The Italians are prepared to make an offer of €6m for the defender, but Tottenham have slapped a €10m fee on Kaboul.

Kaboul’s wage demands are also turning out to a hindrance and the Biancocelesti are only willing to offer €2m per season to the defender.

For the deal to happen Spurs might have to lower their demand and Kaboul take a pay cut to move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Kaboul has made 125 appearances for Tottenham and has five international caps for France to his name.
