Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has further damaged relations between his club and Borussia Dortmund by floating the suggestion that Marco Reus could be available for just €25m.

Reus is known to have a release clause in his contract at Dortmund which comes into force next summer. It had been thought to be set at €35m, but now Rummenigge has suggested the actual value could be €10m less.

And with relations between the two clubs at an all-time low following Bayern Munich's successive summer raids on Dortmund for Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, Rummenigge's words have made matters even worse.

"It is well known that the player is at Borussia Dortmund and that he has a release clause which, according to rumours, is €25m", Rummenigge was quoted as saying by Sport Bild.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has wasted little time in responding, commenting: "Borussia Dortmund have noted with a certain annoyance that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is making a comment via the media every three days with regards to internal Dortmund issues.

"We are certain that it is obvious for everyone interested in football what the purpose of such comments are."

Reus has been linked with a number of clubs over the course of recent months, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid all watching developments closely.

The midfielder has so far resisted attempts by Dortmund to remove the release clause in his contract, even when offered a salary increase to do so.
