Serie B side Bologna have snapped up Spanish central defender Rafael Paez on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

Paez will link up with the Rossoblu for the entire 2014/15 campaign, with the Italian side also having negotiated an option included in the loan which will allow them to make the defender's stay permanent if he impresses.

The defender, who was born in 1994, had a spell with Real Madrid's youth teams before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2013, having impressed the Reds in a trial period.

Paez is also able to operate as a full-back and has regularly turned out for Liverpool's Under-21s, making his debut against Manchester City Under-21s in September last year.

Now Paez will bid to help Bologna secure promotion back to Serie A following their relegation from the Italian top flight last term.
