Leeds United boss David Hockaday has confirmed that new signings Nicky Ajose and Zan Benedicic are in contention to feature against Millwall at the weekend.

The Yorkshire giants completed deals for each this week, snapping up Benedicic on a season-long loan from AC Milan, while Ajose penned a three-year contract upon signing from Peterborough.

Hockaday is delighted to have captured the pair and has revealed that they are in contention to feature in Leeds' Championship opener against Millwall at the weekend, pending medical checks.

"Well, we've got Ajose and Benedicic. I don't know of any other additions", Hockaday told a press conference today.

"Everybody's in contention. We'll have a look at everybody this afternoon, have a chat with the medical guys, the fitness guys and then we'll name a team to travel, a squad to travel", he added.

And the Leeds boss has talked up both players, believing that they will prove to be good signings for the Yorkshire giants, who are bidding to make a splash in the Championship this term.

Asked to comment on the pair, Hockaday said: "Ajose, ex-Man Utd and then Peterborough. I think last season he scored 18 goals. He's quick, he's clever, he's a good technician, he's got pace, he scores goals.

"Benedicic, a young prospect, lots of potential, strong on the ball, predominantly left foot. A good technican, can play in a variety of roles in the midfield."

Leeds are expecting to do further business before the transfer window shuts, although Hockaday has expressed his doubts about any fresh deals being completed ahead of the Millwall match.
