Belgian giants Standard Liege are moving to complete the signing of Celtic target Jeff Louis, with the Scottish club's Champions League resurrection appearing to have come too late to influence the race for his signature.

Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League third qualifying round 6-1 on aggregate by Polish outfit Legia Warsaw, but saw themselves reinstated earlier today when it emerged their opponents had fielded an ineligible player.

The Scottish champions had been hot on Louis' tail, but Standard Liege have moved quickly and reached an agreement with the player.

However, the two clubs still have a number of final details to iron out before the move can be done and dusted as official.

Standard Liege will hope to quickly get Louis over the line, with a Champions League playoff tie against Zenit St. Petersburg on the agenda.

Celtic meanwhile have drawn NK Maribor as they attempt to reach the group stage of the competition.

The Bhoys will no doubt be watching closely to see if any late hiccup scuppers Louis' move to Belgium.
