Newcastle United have confirmed the signings of Nottingham Forest pair Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £7m.

Lascelles, 20, and Darlow, 23, has penned what the Magpies have described as long-term contracts at St. James' Park.

However, they will be loaned back to Stuart Pearce's Forest for the entire 2014/15 campaign as part of the deal.

Lascelles welcomed the move, telling his new club's site: "As soon as I found out about the move I was over the moon.

"It's a huge step up for me. Newcastle are a club with a massive fanbase, a big history and an unbelievable stadium."

Goalkeeper Darlow is also happy to be joining centre-back Lascelles at Newcastle, already relishing the switch to a Premier League club.

"I'm delighted for it all to be sorted and I can't wait to get started here at Newcastle", he said.
