Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky believes the club's FA Cup win last season will work wonders for the younger members of the squad who were not used to tasting silverware.

The Gunners beat Hull City in May to win the FA Cup and end a trophy drought which had lasted since 2005.

Arsenal are hoping to make winning trophies a habit and will have an opportunity to collect another this afternoon when they meet Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.

"It was very important that we won the FA Cup", Rosicky told his club's site.

"Mainly for the younger boys and the English boys.

"For the boys like [Theo] Walcott, [Jack] Wilshere, [Kieran] Gibbs, [Alex Oxlade-]Chamberlain it was very important to win something like that. They didn't know the feeling to win a trophy before so that can give you a great lift. That feeling is rare and you don't find it very often.

"These things can make you more hungry when you taste success. It's a great experience and it's very important that it happened."

The FA Cup was also Rosicky's first trophy with Arsenal, with the Czech Republic schemer having joined the Gunners in 2006 from Borussia Dortmund.
