Polish outfit Legia Warsaw have asked Celtic to play a one-off game to determine which club should proceed to the Champions League playoff round.

Legia Warsaw recently beat Celtic 6-1 on aggregate to book a spot in the playoff round, but were thrown out of the tournament by UEFA after fielding an ineligible player in the second leg.

UEFA awarded Celtic a 3-0 home win as a result, which eliminated the Polish side and booked the Scottish champions a meeting with Maribor in the playoff round.

But Legia Warsaw feel harshly treated and want Celtic to agree to a one-off match.

"Celtic FC is a legend in European football – the club with an incredible tradition, which since 1888 co-creates the story of the most beautiful game in the world", a letter on the Polish club's official site read.
