Arsenal are looking at making a move for Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote, who is edging closer to the exit door at St. James' Park.

The powerful midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs, with sides in Germany, France, Russia and Spain all firm fans of the Ivory Coast international.

But according to the BBC, Arsenal are looking at making a move for Tiote as they bid to add another midfielder to their squad this summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been linked with making moves for a number of midfielders, but has so far kept his powder dry.

Tiote joined Newcastle in 2010 from Dutch side FC Twente and would arrive at the Emirates Stadium boasting substantial Premier League experience.
