Charlton Athletic are in talks with French side Lorient about snapping up attacking midfielder Alain Traore on a one-year loan deal.

The 26-year-old has seen his spell at Lorient, a club he joined from Auxerre in 2012, marred by injuries, which prevent the Ligue 1 outfit from demanding top dollar for his services.

Traore has been interesting a number of clubs, including Standard Liege and several Italian teams, but now Charlton have leapt to the front of the queue.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, the English Championship side are now in talks with Lorient about a potential loan for Traore.

Such a move would hand the Burkina Faso international an opportunity to relaunch his career with regular first team football in England, though Charlton are likely to face competition for his signature.
