Nicklas Bendtner is on the verge of joining Wolfsburg and is expected to finalise the move later today.

The Dane has been out of contract since Arsenal released him last month and the forward is available on a free transfer. He made only one league start last season at the Gunners, featuring in nine Premier League games.

Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt were in talks to sign the 26-year-old earlier this month, but the club decided against signing the former Arsenal striker due to financial concerns.

Reports of Wolfsburg’s interest in Bendtner emerged earlier this week and it seems that the transfer has been fast tracked and a deal is imminent, according to German daily Bild.

The German outfit’s manager, Dieter Hecking, conceded yesterday that their failure to attract a top striker this summer has compelled them to chase the Danish international.
