Wolfsburg have officially confirmed the signing of striker Nicklas Bendtner on a free transfer.

Bendtner has penned a three-year contract with the Bundesliga club, who had been looking to boost their attacking options this summer.

The 26-year-old could only feature in nine Premier League games for Arsenal last term and will be aiming to clock up regular first team football for the Wolves.

"Nicklas Bendtner is a striker in his prime, who in his career, which has not always been very straightforward, has collected a lot of international experience and our attacking quality is increased even further with his skills", Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs told the club's site.

And club coach Dieter Hecking added: "We want to play a good role in all three competitions this season, but we need players who are aware of these challenges and are used to them.
