Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Robin van Persie has no chance of featuring against Swansea City tomorrow.

The former Bayern Munich manager will take charge of Manchester United for the first time in a competitive fixture tomorrow at Old Trafford, when they face the Welsh club in the Premier League.

Van Gaal has confirmed that the former Arsenal captain has still not trained enough to feature tomorrow, after he was given extended leave due to his participation in the World Cup.

He also revealed that Danny Welbeck is among a number of players who will miss the game against Swansea due to injury.

"Sam Johnstone – the goalkeeper. Antonio Valencia, [Luke] Shaw and [Jonny] Evans – three defenders. Welbeck. I believe that is it”, the 63-year-old said via his club's site, when asked about the squad's injury status.
