Sam Allardyce has revealed that West Ham will be aiming to finish the 2014/15 Premier League campaign in the top half of the table.

The Hammers, who finished last season in 13th spot with 40 points, managed to score just 40 times in 38 league games.

And Allardyce insisted that his side will be looking to increase their goalscoring tally too this term.

"We're aiming for 10th or better and we want to score more than last season. That's achievable for us", he said via his club's feed.

West Ham will begin their Premier League campaign against Tottenham Hotspur at Upton Park tomorrow.

The Claret and Blue defeated Spurs 2-0 at the venue in the league in May, and Allardyce is looking forward to a similar result this time.

The manager, who underlined the importance of a positive result in the opening game of the season, explained that he is expecting a “frantic” London derby at the weekend.

"The season would lift off with a win first up. Every game is a big one from first to last and ironically we're playing one of our big rivals first,” he continued.

"If the result is as good as last time we played them then I'll be very happy.

"Saturday will come around, it'll be frantic and we need to keep a calm and cool head and be tactically and technically on it."
