Tottenham Hotspur have offered Roma the chance to sign striker Roberto Soldado, with the Italians now considering the proposal.

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini, who enjoys a close relationship with his opposite number at White Hart Lane, Franco Baldini, headed to London this weekend to take in Spurs' Premier League opener against West Ham.

Sabatini held talks with Spurs and according to beIN Sports, Tottenham offered Roma the chance to sign Soldado. The Serie A side will now consider whether to take Tottenham up on the offer over the course of the next week.

Should Roma be interested in Soldado, Spurs may use the former Valencia star as a bargaining chip to sign striker Mattia Destro.

The Giallorossi do not want to part with Destro, but cash plus Soldado may cause a rethink in the Italian capital.
