Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo feels that it is impossible for his side to sign Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, explaining that he knows Manchester United could not even tempt the German.

The Spanish champions have been widely linked with making a move for Reus, who has a release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract which kicks into effect in 2015.

But Cerezo feels even trying to sign the attacking midfielder would be a pointless act, revealing that Manchester United recently tried and failed to get their hands on the Germany international.

"I do not know where the name of Marco Reus came from, but he is a player who at this time is impossible for us to buy", the president told Onda Cero.

"If you've had an offer from Manchester [United] for a lot of money and haven't gone…we will not be able to bring him to us by offering less."

Borussia Dortmund are fighting hard to keep hold of Reus and want the midfielder to remove the release clause from his contract.

However, despite agreeing to increase Reus' salary if he removes the clause, the player has so far not given his consent, leading to fierce speculation he is set to move on next summer.
