Napoli and Chile forward Eduardo Vargas is close to joining Queens Park Rangers on a loan deal.

The Chilean spent the latter half of last season on loan at Valencia and it is believed that he is not in Rafael Benitez’s plans for this campaign.

The 24-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League and reports of Sunderland and QPR’s interest in the forward emerged yesterday.

Harry Redknapp conceded earlier this week that he needs to make a few more additions to the QPR squad and said that he is looking to add one more striker.

It seems the Englishman’s call for a new forward has been answered as Vargas is close to joining the newly-promoted Premier League outfit.
