Leeds United have confirmed an injury blow with the news that striker Souleymane Doukara could miss a month through injury.

Doukara picked up an ankle injury during the club's 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Elland Road last weekend and missed last night's 2-0 defeat against Brighton.

Now boss David Hockaday has confirmed he expects Doukara to be on the sidelines for some time, which is a blow to the Yorkshire giants.

"Souleymane has ruptured his ankle ligaments", Hockaday told his club's site.

"He was involved in a really bad tackle against Middlesbrough right on half time. “It was right in front of the dugout and we heard the contact and it looks like he is going to be out for weeks.

"It won’t just be for one or two weeks, he will be out for a number of weeks. We’ll need to see how it settles down but I think it will be three or four weeks minimum."

And Hockaday has dubbed the absence of the summer signing "a big miss" due to the extra dimension he gives Leeds' attack.

"It is a blow and he is a big miss for us. We need more pace and Souley gives us that pace and a bit of power."
