Arsenal youngster Calum Chambers believes the move to the Emirates Stadium is already making him a better player.

Chambers, who joined Arsenal from Southampton earlier this summer for £16m, was thrown into a Champions League clash against Besiktas in Turkey last night.

The defender helped Arsenal earn a 0-0 draw in the playoff tie first leg and was widely praised for his performance in the Gunners backline.

And Chambers believes he is already improving as a player just through being around quality performers in the Arsenal squad.

He told the club's site: "I've been working my way into Arsenal really well.

"That's helped my confidence, I've dropped back into centre-back and I'm really enjoying it there.

"You learn from playing and training every day with players of this quality. It's fantastic for me and I'm gaining confidence game by game.

"It's with the help from everyone at the club and the players and staff who have welcomed me. That's helped me settle in so quickly."

Chambers may have more first team opportunities heading his way over the course of the season, with Arsenal having sold Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona earlier this summer.
