Premier League side Crystal Palace are set to name their new manager by the end of this week with Malky Mackay and Tim Sherwood the top contenders for the job.

Tony Pulis left the London side last week due to disagreements with the club hierarchy over Palace’s transfer dealings.

Former Spurs boss Sherwood and ex-Cardiff manager Mackay have been interviewed for the job and the Palace hierarchy are currently pondering over their decision.

Mackay is considered the favourite to land the job as he shares a good relationship with club chairman Steve Parish and has worked with sporting director Iain Moody.

Mackay was sacked in December last year, months after he masterminded Cardiff’s promotion to the Premier League and is believed to be interested in managing in the English top flight again.

Sherwood wants to bring his assistants from his time at Spurs, Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey, as part of his coaching team to the Eagles.

Caretaker manager Keith Millen is also interested in taking up the job on a full-time basis.

"I know I can manage. I want to speak to the chairman and see which direction he wants to go in. If he has got belief in me, I will speak to him", Millen told the BBC.
