Real Madrid team-mates Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos have urged club president Florentino Perez not to sell Angel di Maria this summer, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

The Argentine has been heavily linked with a move out of the Santiago Bernabeu, with English giants Manchester United showing keen interest in securing the services of the winger.

However, the club's supporters, along with the 26-year-old's team-mates, are eager to keep hold of the wide-man with Ronaldo and Ramos, the two most influential players in the dressing room, believed to have spoken to the president about the issue.

Di Maria's popularity with the fans was clearly visible as he was greeted with a loud cheer after coming off the bench in the second half of their 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup yesterday.
