Sunderland winger Emanuele Giaccherini admits he would love to play for Fiorentina at some point in the future, but at present is happy at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats pulled off a coup by snapping up the Italy winger from Serie A champions Juventus last summer, but speculation of a return to his homeland has continued to swirl around Giaccherini.

Fiorentina have been mooted as a potential option for the 29-year-old, especially if La Viola offload Juan Cuadrado, a target for Barcelona and Manchester United.

But Giaccherini insists he is happy at Sunderland, even though turning out for Fiorentina at some point appeals.

"Yes, in the past my name has been linked with Fiorentina, but I've never heard anything concrete, official. Maybe it was just all talk", he told Fiorentina.it.

"The only thing that I know is that, for now, I feel good in England.

"With Sunderland I have three more years on my contract. I am happy with the experience I'm having and I hope this year we can do better than last year, also because I did everything and now the coach knows me better.

"Of course, Florence is a city that I love so much.

"I was born 50 miles from there and my wife loves it. Well, why not tomorrow?"

Giaccherini made 23 appearances for Sunderland in the Premier League last term, scoring four goals and providing eight assists for his team-mates.
