PSV Eindhoven technical director Marcel Brands believes winger Zakaria Bakkali will stay at the club and explained the Dutch outfit are ready to renew his contract.

Bakkali, a product of PSV’s youth academy, has only one year left on his contract at the Philips Stadion and has so far failed to respond to an extension offer.

The 18-year-old has made only 24 first team appearances for PSV, but has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.

Los Colchoneros are keen to add the talented winger to their squad and are assessing options to sign Bakkali, while Liverpool have been credited with monitoring proceedings.

However, Brands has claimed that the Belgian will stay at the club beyond this summer.

“He is a good guy and I think he wants to stay with us”, the Dutchman was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

He also claimed that PSV are ready to be flexible when it comes to discussing a new contract with the starlet.

“We’ll see what we can do to renew his contract because during this season a lot has happened and now he wants the new deal.”

Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Porto have also been linked with a move for Bakkali, but if Brands is to be believed the winger is not going anywhere this summer.
