Thomas Muller has revealed he turned a proposal from Manchester United to leave Bayern Munich for Old Trafford earlier this summer.

The Germany international, who was promoted to the Bayern Munich first team during Louis van Gaal's spell in charge at the Allianz Arena, had a big-money proposal on the table to reunite with the Dutchman in England.

But striker Muller insists he is a one-club man and simply could not take that fateful step out of the Bayern Munich exit door.

Asked by Sport Bild if Manchester United, who were strongly linked with a bid, had offered him big money, Muller replied: "I knew that I would have earned more money.

"The sums from other clubs which circulated were astronomical.

"I can just say: a transfer for me was never an option. FC Bayern is my club."

Muller helped Germany win the World Cup earlier this summer, scoring five goals at the tournament in Brazil.

The striker has consistently been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich, but has so far stood firm in his desire to continue his adventure at the Allianz Arena.
