Celtic manager Ronny Deila insists he is proud of his players after they secured a 1-1 draw away at Slovenian side Maribor.

Deila saw his team take the lead in Slovenia when Callum McGregor struck after just six minutes, putting Celtic in control of the match.

But Maribor hit back, levelling the game through Damjan Bohar, who slickly struck the ball home after a well worked move from the Slovenians.

And the first leg of the Champions League playoff clash ended 1-1, giving Celtic a slight advantage heading into the second leg, by virtue of away goals.

"I think we were closer to win than they were, but I think the performance was good", Deila explained to Sky Sports.

"I'm proud of the boys today. They worked very hard for 90 minutes.

"Maribor are always dangerous and they may be more dangerous away from home, so we need to play with good balance."

Deila also expressed his confidence about his side reaching the group stage, remarking: "I've got a good feeling we can reach it."
