AC Milan are considering taking Fernando Torres from Chelsea to replace Mario Balotelli, if they are unable to land their first choice target, FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez.

The Rossoneri are set to bank €20m from selling Balotelli to Liverpool, with the striker in the final stages of his move to Anfield.

Milan are considering a number of options to replace Balotelli and have drawn up an initial shortlist containing primary target Porto striker Martinez, along with Manchester United hitman Javier Hernandez and Manchester City goalscorer Alvaro Negredo.

But Torres is now also under serious consideration at the San Siro, especially as Chelsea are willing to subsidise his salary.

Torres, who is well behind Diego Costa in the striking pecking order at Stamford Bridge, has been offered to all Italy's elite clubs, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

And Chelsea are willing to cover around 60 per cent of Torres €9m per year salary if he moves to Italy on loan.

Milan favour Porto striker Martinez, but are seriously looking at Torres as an alternative, fully aware that doing a deal for the Colombian will be an expensive and difficult task.

Martinez however is open to heading to Italy, while Torres' view on a move to the Rossoneri is still unclear.
