Celtic are bidding to beat Palermo to the signature of defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik.
The Rennes defender had been all but set for a switch to the Serie A club, but Celtic have appeared on the scene and are keen to tempt him to Scotland.
According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Celtic have been in touch with Kana-Biyik in the last few hours to register their interest – and the former Le Havre players is interested in discovering more about a potential move to Scotland.
Palermo had been expecting to capture Kana-Biyik, but all bets are now off on where the 25-year-old will end up.
The defender has also attracted interest from Russian side Dynamo Moscow, but a switch east is thought to be lower down on his priority list at present.
