Leeds United manager David Hockaday has saluted new signing Mirco Antenucci, while hinting communication may be difficult at first.

Antenucci completed a move from Italian Serie B side Ternana last night, signing on the dotted line with the Elland Road outfit and increasing Hockaday's attacking options.

The striker's arrival comes at an opportune moment for Leeds, given Souleymane Doukara has just been ruled out with an ankle injury for up to four weeks.

And today at a press conference, Hockaday was asked what Antenucci will bring to the club.

"Very good goalscorer, very powerful and explosive, good link play as well. So he's a good footballer", he said.

"He can play in a two and he can play in a three. Great goalscoring record, particularly last season, so we've done our homework and he's somebody we've been trying to get to the club for a long, long time."

The Leeds manager was also asked whether he has spoken to Antenucci and cracked a joke about the number of Italian players that have arrived at the club this summer.

"My Italian is improving slightly, so we talk pizzas", he said.

"But yes, we've met and I'm just looking forward to training him, coaching him."
