Crystal Palace have confirmed that sporting director Iain Moody has resigned from his post at the club.

It emerged yesterday that Moody's former club Cardiff City have complained about the sporting director to the Football Association, with an enquiry now ongoing.

That led to former Cardiff boss Malky Mackay being ruled out of the race to be appointed the new Palace boss.

And now, as a result of events, Moody has exited Selhurst Park.

Palace announced: "In light of the events of yesterday, Sporting Director, Iain Moody has tendered his resignation and it has been accepted with immediate effect.

"There will be no further comment from the club on this matter."

The development leaves former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood as the clear favourite to take over at Selhurst Park, with Moody thought to have favoured the arrival of Mackay.
