Leeds United have confirmed that Giuseppe Bellusci has joined the club on a permanent basis, signing on until 2018.

Bellusci had landed at Elland Road on a season-long loan from Catania recently, but despite not playing a game yet for the Whites, Leeds have seen enough to want to keep the Italian permanently.

The Elland Road club announced: "We can confirm that Giuseppe Bellusci's loan move has now been made permanent, signed until June 2018."

Bellusci was on the bench for Leeds' 2-0 home defeat against Brighton in the Championship on Tuesday evening.

The centre-back, who has received his international clearance, is in the mix to take on Watford this coming weekend.

Bellusci spent last season at Catania in Serie A, but was unable to help the club avoid relegation to Serie B.

The defender turned out 20 times in Serie A last term.

He will now be looking to cement a permanent spot in the Leeds backline.
