Southampton boss Ronald Koeman believes that every game in the Premier League is important and big names don't make a lot of difference.

The Saints had a disappointing start to the season last weekend, losing narrowly to Liverpool in their opening match 2-1.

However, as they prepare for their next match against West Bromwich Albion on 23rd August, Koeman insists that importance needs to be given to every single game to perform well in the Premier League.

"What is a big team? The competition is very competitive and you have to play good and you have to be good to win against everybody", the 51-year-old was quoted as saying by ITV.

"Sometimes the name of the club means a lot.

"But, between the lines, it can be difficult against everybody and you have to prepare yourself to play well against everybody."

Speaking about the opening week's action, the former Valencia manager added that all of the matches were close, a sign of the competitive nature of the English top flight.

"If you look back to the results in the first matches, all of them are very close. Arsenal only won in the last minute."
