Leeds United manager David Hockaday has admitted he is looking at trimming his squad, after signing another player in the former of striker Mirco Antenucci last night.

Hockaday's men have been active in the transfer market this summer, raiding the Italian market extensively to bolster their squad.

Now there are question marks over the futures of a number of players on the fringes at Elland Road, including midfielder David Norris and striker Noel Hunt.

And while Hockaday will not name names, he does admit the time has come to start to move some players who are surplus to requirements out of the exit door.

"We're working on that now [trimming the squad]", he told a press conference. "It's becoming obvious that we need to help people.

"We've got some good players here and if they aren't going to be playing as often as they want, we appreciate that they might want to go elsewhere.

"There's some good pros here and we're in the process of moving one or two on."

The Leeds manager explained he is looking for a group of 20 to 22 senior professionals, with a number of talented youngsters also in the mix to support the main squad.

"Ideally at every level you're looking for 20 to 22 senior players. And then the young players can strengthen it beyond that. I don't think we've got that yet", Hockaday added.
