Former Aston Villa and Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has been appointed the new coach of Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Racing Genk.

The 55-year-old has been out of work since parting ways with Championship side Nottingham Forest last year, but has now rebounded back into management in Belgium.

According to Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad, the Scot has joined Genk as their new coach and takes over a side sitting third from bottom in the Jupiler Pro League.

McLeish started his managerial career in his homeland with Motherwell, going on to enjoy spells with Hibernian and Rangers, before taking charge of the Scotland national team.

His next post was in England at Birmingham City, who he led to the League Cup in 2011, beating Arsenal in the final.
