Evidence of Sami Khedira's increasing fringe status at Real Madrid has been seen this evening, after it emerged the midfielder headed to Germany to watch his brother play, without permission from the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Khedira will not extend his contract at the club, which has just one year left to run, and is angling to quit the Bernabeu.

However, Khedira was still included in the club's squad for tonight's Spanish Supercup second leg against Atletico Madrid, even though Ancelotti later excused him from duty on account of his current status.

But Khedira was nowhere to be seen in the Spanish capital and popped up instead in his native Germany, watching Red Bull Leipzig taking on Erzgebirge Aue in the 2. Bundesliga this evening.

Khedira made the trip to his homeland to watch his brother Rani Khedira in action for Leipzig.
