QPR manager Harry Redknapp believes that Liverpool are unlikely to tolerate Mario Balotelli’s erratic behaviour at the club, but has insisted he would love to work with the striker.

The Italian international is on the verge of joining the Reds after the club agreed a £16m deal with AC Milan yesterday.

Balotelli will travel to England to undergo a medical and complete the move once his agent agrees personal terms on his behalf with Liverpool.

The QPR manager said that despite the Italian’s indiscretions, on and off the field, he would love to have Balotelli in his squad.

“I would like to have him in my squad. He is a fantastic player”, Redknapp said in a press conference this morning.

“He has got his problems on and off the pitch but you look at his goalscoring record and it's first class.”

And the former Tottenham boss has backed Brendan Rodgers to manage the erratic Italian at Liverpool.

“Brendan is taking a huge challenge and now it’s up to him to manage Balotelli.”

However, Redknapp feels that Liverpool are unlikely to allow Balotelli get away with erratic behaviour, with Rodgers having introduced a work ethic at the club.

“They will not stand for him not doing what the other players do, they work at Liverpool, that is part of their game.”

The 24-year-old is unlikely to face Manchester City on Monday as Liverpool are not expected to close out the deal by noon today.
