Marco van Ginkel's agent admits that he is in talks with Chelsea over his client's future and a possible loan move away from Stamford Bridge this season.

The Dutch midfielder missed last term after suffering a serious injury and has subsequently slipped well down the pecking order at Chelsea.

Van Ginkel did not even make the bench for Chelsea's opening day Premier League win against Burnley, something his agent Karel Jansen admits "was not pleasant to see".

Now the 21-year-old's immediate future could be elsewhere as he looks to earn regular first team football.

"We are in talks with Chelsea", Jansen told the Algemeen Dagblad.

"Of course Marco wants to fight for his chance, but there must be some perspective.

"We are waiting for a response from Chelsea as to how they see things."

PSV Eindhoven are in the market to snap up Van Ginkel, but the player's agent has indicated an Eredivisie return is down the list of options and the Dutch side's technical director feels Chelsea will look elsewhere.

"I indicated a long time ago to his management [that he would be welcome]", said Marcel Brands.

"But Van Ginkel belongs to a category of players that clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal are now loaning in the Premier League. Or in Germany, Spain and Italy."
