Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted that his transfer market spending may not well be over after the capture of Mario Balotelli from AC Milan.

The Reds are moving to snap up Balotelli from Milan after seeing the Italian giants accept an offer of €20m.

Rodgers, who was at pains not to talk specifically about Balotelli, admits that he has been chasing another striker, but cast doubt on whether his transfer market activities will end when one is captured. Indeed, the Reds boss wants to continue assessing his squad needs until the last minute.

"We will just look at what we need right through until the end of August", he told a press conference.

"We don't have too much to do to be honest.

"The bulk of the work went on in pre-season.

"We've always said that we're looking for a striker and if we can do a deal for any more players that's something that we'll do."

Balotelli is expected to undergo a medical with Liverpool either later today or tomorrow, but will not sign in time to feature in Liverpool's Premier League clash against Manchester City on Monday evening.

The striker left Manchester City to join AC Milan in January 2013 and scored 12 goals in his first 13 Serie A games for the Italian club.
