Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he is aware of Liverpool’s threats, but feels that the Reds will miss Luis Suarez this season.

The English champions will take on last season’s runners-up in an early season Premier League clash on Monday at the Etihad Stadium.

Pellegrini is not interested in dwelling on last season’s title triumph and said that a win on Monday is all that matters to him.

“We hope to win three points at home”, the Chilean said via the club’s live feed.

“Last season is finished and we are not thinking about it anymore.”

The Citizens have already clashed with Liverpool in a pre-season game in the United States and Pellegrini said that he is aware of the threats that the Reds possess.

“I watched Liverpool’s game and we played against them in the United States. We know what they are doing.”

The former Real Madrid manager also claimed that Liverpool will miss the presence of Suarez, who scored 31 Premier League goals last term, on the pitch this season.

“It is difficult to say after one game but Liverpool will always miss Suarez, though they have brought in important players.”

The Citizens handed out a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the corresponding fixture last season on Boxing Day.
