Liverpool are ready to follow up the signing of Mario Balotelli by bagging former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o, with a two-year deal on the table for the Cameroonian.

According to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, Liverpool have made the offer to Eto'o and are keen to wrap up his arrival as soon as possible.

However, Eto'o has been holding off committing his future in order to assess all the offers on the table and the 33-year-old currently has an eye on the situation at Roma.

The Giallorossi are keen to capture Eto'o and would be able to offer the striker Champions League football.

Eto'o may also judge he is more likely to play on a regular basis at Roma than at Liverpool, which could tip the balance in the Serie A club's favour.

The striker parted ways with Chelsea earlier this summer, when his one-year contract at Stamford Bridge ended.

The 33-year-old joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala last year and struck the back of the net 12 times in all competitions for Jose Mourinho's men.

Eto'o counts Real Madrid, Espanyol, Real Mallorca, Barcelona and Inter amongst his former clubs.
