Napoli are weighing up making a move to sign Liverpool forward Fabio Borini after sending Eduardo Vargas to QPR on a season-long loan deal.

Borini is surplus to requirements at Anfield, with Liverpool already having accepted an offer of £12m, plus £2m in bonus payments, from Sunderland.

However, the Italian is unsure on whether to return to Gus Poyet's men, with whom he spent last season on loan, and is holding out for other offers before making a decision.

Inter have been linked with Borini, but now, according to Italian daily Tuttosport, Rafael Benitez's Napoli are looking at the possibility of signing the former Roma man.

Liverpool are open to accepting further offers for Borini, who is set to fall even further down the pecking order with the arrival of Mario Balotelli from AC Milan.

Napoli are currently battling to qualify for the Champions League group stage and face a tough task following a first leg 1-1 playoff draw against Athletic Bilbao in Italy earlier this week.

Borini would not be able to feature in the second leg against the Spaniards, but could feature in Napoli's group stage push, if they qualify, or Europa League campaign.
