Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has promised he will give young talent Joel Campbell a chance to shine this season.

Campbell spent last term on loan at Greek side Olympiacos, helping the club win the Greek Super League title and reach the last 16 stage of the Champions League.

The forward then impressed at the World Cup as Costa Rica reached the quarter-finals and Wenger has opted to keep Campbell at Arsenal this term, despite interest from AC Milan.

And the Gunners boss, whose side drew 0-0 in midweek against Besiktas in the Champions League, after only having narrowly beaten Crystal Palace 2-1, will give the Costa Rican his chance.

"When you don't score people are critical about goals and I agree with them, but we had chances and having watched the game again I believe we had the chances against Besiktas and much more than we had against Crystal Palace", Wenger was quoted as saying by ITV.

"Joel Campbell can contribute to that. At the moment he has not got his chance, but he will get it."

Wenger's men are in action later today against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League, before returning to the Champions League to try and finish the job against Besiktas at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Campbell was on the bench for Arsenal's games against Crystal Palace and Besiktas, but was not brought on.
