Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic has expressed his desire to forget about the win against Liverpool and concentrate on the match against Stoke City next weekend.

The match against the Reds marked the return to form and fitness of the former Fiorentina player, who had missed a fair part of last season with injury.

The 24-year-old in fact managed a total of 18 appearances for the Citizens last season, scoring only eight goals.

His two goals in the 3-1 win on Monday were therefore even more pleasing for him and the Montenegro international will hope that it is just the beginning of better things to come during the next year.

"It was a great game against a big team like Liverpool", Jovetic told his club's official site.

Speaking about his pre-season performances the striker added: "I was happy with pre-season and against Newcastle I played well but didn't score.

"Now I have scored two but I am going to forget this because in five days we have another game against Stoke and it won't be easy.

"This was a victory for the group, the team, and three points is the most important."
